We have been working hard at some of the core concepts underpinning our systems and we are making great strides enabling us to move forward in exciting directions.
This release sees the final banishment of our 10 separate log in systems!
Another significant improvement of the users system - merging directory and booking users into a common structure.
This will make things a lot simpler technically and should also allow managing a directory capable of accepting online bookings from its entries a great deal easier too.
Many of the changes are "under the hood" and will not make a great deal of difference to the daily use of our software but these changes will certainly allow greater flexibility in the future.
As well as being able to assign any user to an entry, directory managers can now assign more than one user to an entry.
This could be very handy when:
Bookster is a booking system for short-term lets and holiday accommodation which Tribalogic are launching in early 2009.
Keep and eye on www.booksterhq.com.
We have been working on a slick and easy to use rates interface for Bookster.
We are really happy with how it is looking and it is on target to be ready for the Bookster launch.
A number of improvements were made to the booking screens for Bookster - see example booking screens

During this release cycle we have been working on a number of updates to our core system that will bear fruit at a later date but there are still plenty of exciting things going on to tell you about.

In large part this update was a maintenance release while we work on a few larger changes to the directory and booking system that will see a radical change to the booking console. These changes will make their way across to the directory consoles in the fullness of time! Stay tuned for more information ...
We still managed to squeeze in some nice new features though...

The headline news for this update is a major change in the way that users log into our directory.
There was a slightly rocky transition at first but we are hopeful that the benefits in the long term will out-weigh any initial niggles.

A great example of the utilisation of our booking APIs is how Edinburgh Holiday accommodation have added availability searching to their web site.

Structurally this was a very big update with a lot of internal changes. Despite the usual testing and while confident in that process, it's always nerve wracking during the actual deployment.
We deployed a "point" upgrade to Zend Framework (the core technology upon which we build our software) to bring it from 1.5.2 up to 1.5.3.
Another major part of this update was the replacement of our old database layer. We now use Zend_Db at which allows us to slowly, but surely replace our old API completely.

There are now 3 new tabs within the Rental Reserve administration console for property managers to use:

This release carries several minor improvements to various small parts of the system.
We can now manage the groups of providers in the booking system via a handy user interface and several improvements were made to our import system.
Excellent progress was also made in terms of the user interfaces on the booking system, with new screens to allow the creation and editing of extras and discounts now available for use by host managers (it's still beta so not released to all providers just yet!).
